Safety and control
Safety and guiding: how a well-controlled multi-day UTV tour works
Every one of our tours is led by our guide driver, a professional driver and three-time European GT3 champion who has known the Dominican Republic for more than 25 years. On arrival, each driver gets a safety briefing and takes a driving ability check; helmets are mandatory for drivers and companions, the machines are checked before every departure, and a support team follows the route.

How is a multi-day UTV tour supervised?
A tour takes commitment, but nothing is improvised: prepared routes, professional guiding, a pace matched to the group and support out on the trail.
-
A professional guide driver
A professional driver, buggy rally-raid expert and three-time European GT3 champion, he adapts the pace, lines and instructions to the terrain and to the group's level.
-
Safety briefing
Before you hit the trail: vehicle walkthrough, safety rules and driving instructions, explained in a language every participant understands (English, French or Spanish).
-
Driving ability check on arrival
It confirms that you can drive this type of machine safely. The team may refuse to let a participant drive if their level or behavior is not suitable.
-
Small guided groups
Groups are deliberately kept small to maintain the quality of the guiding, and everyone progresses together as a group.
-
Prepared routes
Stages are prepared in advance and adapted to the weather, the terrain and the group's level; some may be changed for your safety.
-
Trail support
A support team and logistics follow the route. The Can-Am machines are checked and prepared by the team before every departure.

Protective gear
What gear is provided for driving?
The driver and the companion receive the same kit: official tour jersey, balaclava, helmet and goggles or a protective mask. Helmets are mandatory for both driver and companion.
The 2026 Can-Am Maverick R X RC adds its own protection: hard roof, four-point harnesses with shoulder pads, full heavy-duty skid plate, rock sliders, suspension arm guards, bumpers and an intrusion bar.
On your side, bring sturdy clothes, closed-toe shoes, sun protection and a change of clothes: mud, dust and water crossings are part of the experience.
Before you go
Who can drive a UTV on the tour?
Beginners can take part once guided and approved. Here are the rules that apply to every driver.
| Requirement | Rule |
|---|---|
| Driver's age | 18 or older; no fixed upper age limit: fitness, behavior and passing the driving check come first |
| License | Valid driver's license, required |
| Driving ability check | Done on arrival, to confirm you can drive this type of machine safely |
| Helmet | Mandatory for the driver and the companion |
| Fitness | Good general physical condition |
| No license, or rather not drive | Ride as a passenger with a professional driver at the wheel, at the same price as a driver, 1 passenger maximum per buggy |
Are there any medical restrictions?
The tour is not recommended during pregnancy, with serious back or heart problems, or with any medical contraindication. If in doubt, ask your doctor before booking.

The unexpected
Weather, breakdowns, insurance: what's planned
What happens if the weather turns bad?
The team adapts the plan to safety, terrain and feasibility; some stages may be changed. December to April is generally drier; from May to November, rain can make some trails more technical.
What if the vehicle breaks down or gets damaged?
Technical assistance does what is needed to help the driver get going again. If that is not possible, a return to camp or a repair is organized depending on trail conditions. No refund or deduction can be claimed for breakage, failure or immobilization related to the tour.
Is insurance included?
Yes, insurance is included. We still recommend additional personal liability coverage and travel insurance that covers motorized activities, medical expenses and repatriation.
Why a security deposit?
A 4,000 USD security deposit per driver is required before departure and returned at the end of the tour if no damage or amount due is found. Breakage or damage caused by the driver is the driver's responsibility and may be deducted from the security deposit.
